We always get queries from members regarding how much $ is required while travelling in Japan. The amount needed varies by individuals, depending on how frugal the person is (food, accommodation), the places he’s going to (entrance fees) and what he buys (souvenirs, miscellaneous). This article will attempt to provide an estimates of such spending.
I split the spending into 4 categories >> Budget, Average, High and Luxurious spenders. A person can be Budget when it comes to accommodation but luxurious for food ! No problem with that. Also, this article is written with Tokyo in mind, but will apply to other cities across Japan as the cost of living is not too different across the country.

C. Travelling within Central Tokyo
Central Tokyo is mainly covered by JR (Yamanote line, Chuo Line) and Subway (9 Tokyo Metro lines and 4 Toei lines).
